Former U.S. Congressman Artur Davis returned to the practice of employment law in 2020 after a lengthy career in public service. He represents victims of employment discrimination in federal district courts and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Since joining HKM, Mr. Davis has already obtained financial awards for his clients of over 14 million dollars against entities including one of the country’s largest retail chains, three of the South’s leading hospitals, a global corporation with a major Alabama facility, a major commercial estate company, and the country’s largest retail and e-commerce distributors. He has extensive experience trying cases in federal court, and navigating all aspects of the employment litigation process, from negotiations to depositions to briefing and arguing complex legal issues.
Throughout his legal career, Mr. Davis has proved he can achieve successful results even in the most challenging cases, drawing on his extensive experience as a federal prosecutor and criminal defense lawyer to tell his client’s stories. His involvement in several high-profile congressional investigations gives him a unique perspective on how to uncover and challenge wrongdoing by large institutions.
Mr. Davis is an honors graduate of Harvard Law School, where he was the second African American to win the award of Best Oral Advocate in the Ames Moot Court Competition. Mr. Davis is admitted to practice law in Alabama the District of Columbia, and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, and he has represented HKM clients pro hac vice in several notable matters in Georgia, North Carolina, New York, Nevada, and Connecticut.
