Katie Bensberg is an attorney in HKM’s Indianapolis office. She represents workers in individual and class claims regarding workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and other employment disputes. Ms. Bensberg handles matters in all stages of litigation at the trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts, as well as administrative proceedings and prelitigation negotiations.
Passionate about civil rights, Ms. Bensberg brings over eight years of experience in private practice, legal aid, and the public sector representing plaintiffs to vindicate violations of statutory and constitutional rights. Her work has primarily focused on employment discrimination, LGBTQ+ rights, racial justice, and reproductive justice.
Before joining HKM, Ms. Bensberg was the director of the LGBT Law Project at Indiana Legal Services, where she successfully litigated matters to advance civil rights and access to justice for LGBTQ+ Hoosiers. Most recently, Ms. Bensberg was a senior trial attorney with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, where she represented the federal government in cases to remedy violations of federal employment nondiscrimination laws.
Ms. Bensberg frequently provides Know Your Rights trainings, CLE presentations, and other speaking engagements.
In her free time, Ms. Bensberg enjoys volunteering with local organizations, playing tennis, baking, and spending time with her spouse, toddler, and dog.
