Employment Law Attorney
Jason is an experienced trial lawyer. He is a managing partner in HKM’s Seattle office and appears in matters and advises clients across the country. A former criminal prosecutor, Jason’s practice focuses in employment law. He handles complex individual employment matters, class action litigation, and advises executives and college and professional coaches as they navigate everything from contracts to compensation.
He has handled employment matters against nearly every major company in the United States, advises executives from Fortune 100s, and handles contract matters for front-office executives and coaches from the Seattle Seahawks to the New York Yankees.
Recognized by his peers in the King County Bar Association, Jason was honored as the Young Lawyer of the Year and has been named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine.
A native of Eastern Washington, Jason and his family reside in the Seattle area. He received his degree in Economics from the University of Washington and earned his law degree from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago.
Appointed by the Governor of Washington, Jason also serves on the State Advisory Council on Homelessness, where he works to address the complex issues that affect our communities’ most vulnerable people.
All that aside, Jason is a baseball guy.
Employment Law Attorney
Rachel is an employment lawyer. She represents employees, focusing her practice on litigating discrimination, disability accommodation, harassment, wrongful termination, and leave issues. Rachel advises clients on contract matters and also maintains a robust class action practice fighting for workers on wage and hour issues, unpaid commissions, and misclassification. She has handled class action matters involving violations of various consumer protection acts, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Rachel earned her law degree from Seattle University School of Law while working full-time at one of Seattle’s premier employment law defense firms. She served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Thomas S. Zilly at the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington. Rachel was President of the Labor & Employment Law Association and was managing editor of a law journal. She was a recipient of the Mary Ellen Krug Award, given by the King County Bar Association Labor & Employment Section and, in recognition of Rachel’s skillful employment law practice, has been named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers magazine.
With a deep commitment to serving her community through various pro bono and leadership roles, Rachel serves on the board for King County Washington Women Lawyers, and on committees for both the Pacific Coast Labor & Employment Law Conference and Washington Employment Lawyers Association. She provides volunteer representation to child victims in order to protect their privacy rights in criminal matters, and is a longtime volunteer at FareStart, a job training and placement program for homeless and disadvantaged individuals.
During soccer season, you can find Rachel kicking a ball with her young daughter in her family’s North Seattle neighborhood.
Employment Law Attorney
As an employment litigator, Henry has been dedicated to representing employees his entire professional career. He focuses his practice in employment law, advising clients and handling complex civil litigation and class actions.
Henry has considerable experience representing employees and handling disputes that arise out of employment contracts. These experiences give Henry a unique perspective in the review and configuration of your employment contract. Henry understands the value of a proactive approach, including early contract review and negotiations, to prevent future legal disputes. His keen attention to detail and clear communication style enables you to feel comfortable and confident as you build and shape your contract.
Henry’s passion for representing workers and employees is matched only by his enthusiasm for college sports. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Henry grew up on and around a large state university known colloquially as “THE.” As a lifelong Buckeye fanatic, Henry has seen first-hand the value coaches add to college athletics, the revenue they generate for their schools, and the impact they have in their communities.
In his free time, Henry enjoys cooking, reading, watching sports (yes, all sports), and exploring the Pacific Northwest’s great outdoors.
Arielle is a law clerk at HKM’s Seattle office. She is currently obtaining her law degree at Seattle University School of Law, graduating in May 2021. Arielle provides litigation support, legal research and briefings, handles client services as she focuses her work and study on employment law.
Arielle is on the Dean’s list and is a member of the Jesuit honor society, Alpha Sigma Nu, selected by the Dean of her law school in recognition of her commitment to scholarship, loyalty, and service. Arielle is also the Research and Technical Editor for a law journal and participates in moot court competitions. In addition, Arielle volunteers as a Development and Awareness Committee Member for Disability Rights Washington, a nonprofit legal advocacy organization.
Prior to law school, Arielle worked to advance the rights of people with disabilities at Disability Rights Washington and the Office of Developmental Disabilities Ombuds. She received her bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Seattle University in 2017.
A Puget Sound native, Arielle grew up in Tacoma, Washington. She played competitive soccer from the age of seven and on her school’s water polo team in high school and college. These days Arielle enjoys backpacking, skiing, and going to Sounders games with her partner, Shaneika.
Klarisse is a legal assistant at HKM and takes great pride in finding solutions to complicated questions. She is the organizational brains on the team and joined the firm in 2017 as an Intake Specialist. She has progressed quickly through the office making an impact in each of her roles.
As part of the firm’s intake team, she client faced with individuals seeking legal guidance concerning a variety of industries and backgrounds; many of whom went on to obtain advice on or pursue a resolution of their employment matter with HKM at their side.
Klarisse is a first-generation Filipino-American and a lifelong Washingtonian. She attended Central Washington University studying English and Language Arts before moving to Seattle, where she found that her analytical nature and eye for detail were well-suited for a career in the legal field.
Since pod racing only exists in a galaxy far, far away, her favorite sport is watching Mariners games, attempting to play tennis, and playing with her cat.
