Terry Bowden was named Head Football Coach of the University of Akron in 2012. Before this he served as Head Coach for the North Alabama University’s Football Program. Prior to this appointment he served as the Head Football Coach at Auburn for five seasons. For five seasons Bowden was the head Coach at Samford University. Prior to that appointment he was Head Football Coach at Salem University for two years.

Highest Possible Performance Bonus:
$50,000 as consideration for appearance in broadcast programs+$25,000 as stipend from footwear equipment and apparel contracts+$25,000 as stipend for the assistance offered to the President and University Development in promoting the University's development efforts+$12,000 for non-traditional expenditures related to entertainment expenses associated with the Coach's efforts
Highest Possible Academic Bonus:
Up to $400,000 depending on the year
A sum equal to 100% of the then current base salary for the remaining term of the Agreement
1 automobile+Contribution to retirement plan+Insurance for vehicle+Up to $6,000 stipend to cover the cost of club membership+Up to $10,000 as moving expenses+Hospital, medical, dental, disability and Group Life Insurance plan+Travel expenses for spouse and children to sporting events
The Coach shall obtain prior written approval from the President for any athletically related income and benefits from sources outside the University. The Coach shall report annually, in writing, to the President, on or before April 15th each year, all athletically related income from sources outside the University.
