Dennis Franchione was appointed as Texas State’s Head Football Coach in 2012. His collegiate Head Coaching career began at Southwestern College in 1981. In 1983 Franchione went to Tennessee Tech, where he served as the Offensive Coordinator before becoming Head Coach at Pittsburg State. In 1998, Franchione worked with the Texas Christian University Football Program. Following the 2000 campaign, Franchione was named the Head Football Coach Alabama.

The Coach shall pay to the University an amount equal to $12,000 times the number of months remaining on the Coach's contract on the date that he accepts the other employment position

Annually the Coach is required to receive approval from the athletic director for athletically realted income and benefits received from sources other than Texas State. The Coach's request must precede the receipt of such income and must be in writing and must provide the amount and the sources of the income.
