With exceptional empathy and sound judgment, Patricia Stasco advocates for workers’ rights as a Partner at HKM. She focuses on class actions, as well as individual employment claims. Ms. Stasco has nearly two decades of experience investigating and litigating complex employment and civil rights cases for individuals and classes of workers.

Ms. Stasco served as Senior Trial Attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice for 17 years. There, she successfully litigated cases challenging sexual harassment, pay discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, discrimination based on race, national origin, and sex, and retaliation. A large part of Ms. Stasco’s practice was litigation challenging systemic workplace discrimination affecting large numbers of employees or applicants, including pattern-or-practice, disparate impact, and disparate treatment claims. She also investigated individual and systemic workplace discrimination, often working collaboratively with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Additionally, Ms. Stasco investigated and litigated military servicemember discrimination and reemployment claims under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act. As a leader in several initiatives, she developed and conducted trainings for diverse audiences. Ms. Stasco was awarded the Attorney General’s Equal Employment Opportunity Award and the Civil Rights Division John R. Dunne Award for exceptional accomplishments in furtherance of civil rights.

Prior to DOJ, Ms. Stasco was an associate at Arnold & Porter in Washington, DC. She litigated products liability, antitrust, and government contracts cases before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. She also represented clients pro bono in asylum and other immigration matters and helped manage the firm’s immigration pro bono program.

Before her law career, Ms. Stasco served as Director of Development of a nonprofit organization advocating for better living conditions for families living in Boston’s public housing communities.

A first-generation college graduate, Ms. Stasco’s passion for social and economic justice stems from her upbringing in a working-class family in a small factory town. When not working, Ms. Stasco enjoys creative writing, reading, and running, as well as exploring nature and traveling with her spouse and children.

Ms. Stasco operates out of our New York office.
